EVOL: i write EVOL one.. it broke off from EVOLVE which is what i started out with on the East Coast but on the West it was too long of a name so the niggas i ran with like BUS 166 suggested i cut it short.. EVOLVE because i'm constantly evolving..

EVOL: TKO for "True Kings Only," ID for "Infinite Destruction," & KM for "King Me.."


AF: how did you hook up with fly ID??
EVOL: my boys on the East were down with it.. i went to New York & hooked up with CLARK, adapted a style & got put down.. although some contraversial shit is happening right now..

AF: how did you hook up with an all bombing crew like TKO??
EVOL: in 1995 i left a crew because of some lil bitch who doesn't even write anymore!! i'll krush you!! anyhow i was boys with TOOMER and i was painting a wall with JUST 195 & VOX, my niggas TOOMER & og CITY approached me & asked me to be down.. TKO is notoriously dangerous i thought to myself, so i was with it!! they knew i would bring a new aspect to the crew as far as piecing & organized productions go.. my boy og CITY who is now serving a double life sentence was with it, TOOMER was with it, so it was what it is.. niggas think i stick out like a sore thumb.. hahaha 11 years!!


AF: where were you born??
EVOL: Kabul, Afghanistan

AF: would you consider yourself a "graffiti terrorist"??
EVOL: "graffiti" because i'm a major factor, "terrorist" because of my stereo-typical origin, so yes!!


AF: what was your childhood like??
EVOL: i was born in Afghanistan & grew up in France.. i moved to the US in 1984 under the Ronald Reagon administration.. i moved alot after the Russians invaded and lost misreably, i recall the head nigga in charge of their troops said, "we couldn't win, it wasn't possible".. Afghans are known to be superior fighters, we fight with heart & never surrender you better ask somebody!! after two major wars the country was in ruins.. it was no man's land!! that's why the Taliban & Al Queada emerged, it was land of the war lords.. this is where "ALEXANDER THE GREAT" was defeated and decided to settle till his death..

AF: what do your parents think about the lifestyle you chose??
EVOL: as far as graffiti goes they don't like it, they think i should grow out of it.. but all the shit i've gone through it has become part of my life, but never my whole life.. graffiti is not my life!! that's for the lame ass niggas.. snap the fuck out of it, you owe money!! but my commitment, dedication, & passion i showed has put them in a state of mind to respect the craft for what it's worth..


AF: how long have you been in the game??
EVOL: i started writing in 1992, so 14 years..

AF: who were some of your first big influences??
EVOL: writers from the East Coast specifically Washington DC hall of fame.. writers like CYCLE, HUSH, WOMBAT, FELON, SOPE, SMK, CERT, ZYDE, fly ID cats, SPORTS crew, IMOK crew.. then when i moved up to New York, writers like PER, CES, HUMAN & SUB.. in Los Angeles it was KRUSH & TYKE from AWR crew..


AF: what do you think makes a graffiti writer valid??
EVOL: they must pay their dues!! don't talk about the shit too much, no one needs to know.. your work speaks for itself & i'm not talking about your little piece book or your shit fuck canvas, i'll shit on that!! you wanna draw or illustrate & paint on some fine art status that's fine too, come to me & i'll teach you how, but graffiti is a different type of art form.. run the streets with street niggas, develop your name, defend it & your crew.. illegal participation, at least in Amerikkka.. other countries i don't know but in Amerikkka illegal graffiti is what really matters!! times change, niggas get older like myself & i can't really fuck with the illegal business anymore, it's just too risky!! plus i'm already established.. graffiti is a new art form genre where it's networked like no other & the batton is passed carefully..

AF: how would you describe your style??
EVOL: versitile & unlimited!! strongly influenced by the East Coast but conditioned by the West Coast gradually because that's where i'm at.. my style has developed through stages because i've been through a lot of crews so you can't help but be influenced here & there.. you always want to keep an open mind, don't be stupid..


AF: in your opinion what is the difference between West Coast graffiti & East Coast graffiti??
EVOL: the East Coast is more organized.. a crew is able to agree on a theme & colaborate to execute strongly so one can capture the unity of that crew.. the West Coast is strong as fuck these days & are workin towards that.. the West Coast is consistent, they tend to just all go up on the wall bunched up usually with no breathing room, its scattered and selfish!! selfish West Coast niggas, awww now don't get mad at me, you owe money!! but the days of the FX crew whom ran shit are no longer, although FC crew whom i have good friends from, are keeping the organized productions on point & the fly ID crew.. AWR is a superior crew out here & the TKO crew will kill you & out bomb you!!

AF: how many black books do you own??
EVOL: over 60, but they're not all graff books.. i study animation so i have to do alot of life observation in order to get better at gesture drawings & be able to tell stories.. i'm trained to draw a whole lot.. i just keep the graff shit on the walls now..


AF: how old were you when you first discoved your artistic talent??
EVOL: 4 years of age.. when i was 12 i knew something would eventually come out of it..

AF: you used to hit alot of fr8s back in the day, how did you get into that scene??
EVOL: my freight partner back in the day was PHENZ.. we used to hit freights all night!! there were some good spots in southern california but they got burned fast.. i used to go with BUS 166, JUST 195 & PUSH.. back then everyone had their spots..


AF: what do you think about European graffiti??
EVOL: it's cool, their style is very broad & innovative.. it's mainly because graffiti is more tolerated & permitted out there.. my friend SABER told me once the mayor brought them beer & nuts!! over here it's more like guns & court cases..

AF: have you ever traveled just to paint??
EVOL: Mexico where there are 2 headed dogs & whores galore!! you have to go there deep, role thick like with the TKO's & the infamous TOOMER or else you'll never be seen again!! just all over the East Coast & West Coast, my passport is shady, no further discussion..


AF: are you addicted to myspace.com??
EVOL: never that, crackspace is for the birds!! actually for a minute i was in search of sluts.. i network alot through it, mostly my dick networks itself into some dirty vagina!! the ladies love my charm!! plus it doesn't hurt to be good looking like myself, G-UNIT!!

EVOL: i make short animated films & study animation.. paint, design, draw every thing & anything.. hunt gorgeous & grimey sluts, get em on tape.. some Shaolin kung fu, fuck with my G5, eating, drinking, smoking & snorting sometimes..

EVOL: great!! it's hard.. alot of work in a very competative & enriching environment...


AF: what type of crazy shit goes down at Cal Arts??
EVOL: orgy's and lots of fucking going on!! i invited some friends of mine to a halloween party a year ago.. my boys SYEK, KOSH, CHUKS & my friend REVOK came down, anyhow some nigga mouths off to REVOK, not knowing who this guy is or who he's with, (for those of you that don't know, do not fuck with REVOK it's bad news) so REVOK hands his drink to KOSH & brakes this kid's face & continues to do so.. it was such a bad beating that other civilians tried to step up & recieved a beating just as bad.. (they call him, "The Incredible VOK!!") so REVOK knocks out the 4th guy in a row as we kick the shit outa what ever is left of them.. then he gets the 5th guy in a choke hold & bashes his head in the ground, then outa no where someone brakes a bottle on REVOK'S head, (which doesn't affect him at all) then my boy SYEK lays that bitch out & then stomps him in the head while getting hit from behind.. by this time we all re-grouped & got out of there.. as we take off through the back, 2 ambulances rushed in & the security gaurds were running around looking for us.. this nigga REVOK brake's jaws, cheak bones, whatever!! we all went back to my crib & drank some more.. the next week at school there were all these flyers around campus asking for information to who was involved.. what up to my chums!!

AF: what are you majoring in??
EVOL: film/character animation..


AF: tell us about your animated film "pirates of the scurvy whore.."
EVOL: it was my first film at Cal Arts.. it's about a bunch of grizzled pirates fighting for the last bottle of liquor in the middle of the sea.. it got in some festivals, nothing too big, it's funny..

AF: how has graffiti helped you advance in your career??
EVOL: the requirements of graffiti to "stay up" builds spirit & determination like no other!!


AF: what's your opinion on graffiti's influence in corporate Amerikkka??
EVOL: the streets are the truth so they try to market that to benefit their pockets.. fuck a corporate!! watch office space, that shit is funny..

AF: where do you see yourself in the year 2020??
EVOL: rich!! somewhere in Amerikkka but developing in the Middle East..


AF: where is the craziest place you've ever painted??
EVOL: at the end of the belmont tunnels & deep in the freedom tunnels in New York..

AF: how in the hell do you come up with your characters??
EVOL: one has to draw a whole lot!! shaped, straights, against curves, etc.. if you draw alot they will come, but don't rip off shit.. you can be influenced, but most importantly be original..


AF: what is the positive side of graffiti??
EVOL: the people you meet, pussy you get, the satisfaction of getting up like no other..

AF: what is the negative side of graffiti??
EVOL: the pigs, politics, alot of things..


AF: do you have a favorite color combo??
EVOL: there are too many!! if one has only a favorite it must mean he hasn't explored enough..

AF: how do you compare the old school era of writers to the new school generation of writers??
EVOL: styles just evolve through the years, always respect where it came from!! the new generation is packed with numerous toys who dont know where the fuck it came from so therefore dont know the rules of the game.. for instance, they don't know who the fuck is who so they cap niggas & then get beat viciously if caught at the spot or later, but you will get caught eventually!! if you go over someone you must be established & be able to burn it or it's bad news for you!! nobody lasts for ever.. it must be past on but to the right breed..


AF: do you feel the internet has made it trendy or cool to be a writer nowadays??
EVOL: definitely!! it's the time of internet communication & it's good because that's how you reach the masses over seas & whatever, but it gives everyone access & that's the tricky part!! investigaters are eating doughnuts & drinking coffee loven that shit.. but yea, everyone wants to be part of the movement & they think they have a right but they won't last a year!! it takes a whole lot & they don't got what it takes!! fucken toys embarras us but it's funny because it makes the niggas that know what's up respect it much more..

AF: what advice can you give to a young buck just getting in the game??
EVOL: you've got to be real young to start, in your teens.. it has to grow with you into an adult.. you old niggas who are just starting, i don't know what the fuck you're thinking, play golf or some shit.. for the young bucks, pay your dues & bomb the shit outa cities not suburbs silly nigga!! someone who's already established will spot you & have fun with you.. you gotta get with someone that's serious about this shit & get your letters right son!!

EVOL: usually G-UNIT, Queens rap, Capone-n-Noreaga, but i have an open mind.. you gots to, don't want to limit yourself.. i like Frank Sinatra & Misfits.. dirty rap, nothing soft & faggot like Gorillas.. u niggas in trouble!!

EVOL: i've been up with Curtis Jackson since 98 & i seen that nigga rise!! to the music generates what i need if you don't like it?? you a lame nigga!! i don't even want to see your face, bitch made!! G-UNIT!!

EVOL: i was ejected out of the front windshield of my SUV & the driver's side was mangled to no return.. 5 broken ribs, broken ankle, klavicle, left humerous, multiple head trauma & was in a coma for 7 days.. but guess what?? i'm back!!

AF: did being in a coma affect your artistic abilities??
EVOL: at first i couldn't draw shit.. i had to relearn how to draw but i trained really hard & got back at it better then i was before the accident..


AF: if you could turn back the hands of time, what is one thing you would change & why??
EVOL: nothing, i'm a winner!! oh yeah the WAR in Afghanistan when i was a child so i wouldn't have come to filthy Amerikkka.. of course now i'm Amerikkkanized.. sluts, money & drugs!!

AF: what are some of your plans for the future??
EVOL: get a couple of houses, make more films, eventually work at Pixar, paint more, run the graffiti & art field, start my own company of various thinks & finally move back to the Middle East..
